What does the program offer to our students?
More than a dozen General and Core Courses are offered as part of the first semesters of your studies. These will allow you to gain the basic knowledge of Management and Economics needed by a manager, including knowledge of the basics of finance, accounting, marketing, law and quality management. The specialised and professional background of the maritime economy - both its land-based and maritime dimension - will be provided further on in the Specialisation Courses. The student will then gain knowledge of : Maritime Trade, Maritime Logistics, International Forwarding, and Port Management & Operations. However, the subjects will also relate to other maritime specialisations - Modern Marine Technologies, Shipbuilding Industry, Fishing Industry or even maritime tourism issues, thus providing a comprehensive education. For the purpose of enhancing academic skills and preparing a thesis to graduate from the Maritime Business and Management specialisation, students acquire knowledge in Academic Research and Writing, which can also lead to an academic career in the future.
Career prospects
Studying Maritime Business and Management opens up opportunities for graduates to take up future managerial positions in companies related to the various specialisations within Maritime Business. These mainly include companies in the TFL sector, but also others related to maritime tourism, the shipbuilding industry and the fishing industry as well as maritime equipment suppliers and offshore industries and contractors. With the knowledge and skills acquired, students graduating will be prepared to take on a variety of professional challenges and be open to building their career paths, either as an employee with different companies or running their own business.
